We moved to Haiti on July 10th, 2017.
Once we heard God say "GO" we sold everything we owned: the dream house with eight acres and a lake lot, almost all of our belongings, our vehicles, and Alex's landscape company. We packed four suitcases, our dog & our cat, and arrived with no idea of what was to come.
We moved here wide eyed and ready, little did we know the depth of the journey God would have in store for us.
And I think we are all too aware now of what really cultivates growth- brokenness. We had to be completely undone of all the things we knew and comforts to which we clung. Uprooted in beliefs that did not truly reflect Him. Then the brokenness began in depth, the soil tilled and turned over. The earth of our lives had to be prepared to receive life-giving seeds which then in turn had to go through a process of destruction themselves, a further breaking open to be able to fully give.

It is still a process five years later. One that I think never ends.

A process I would not change for anything because the growth developed and the Love refined is worth more than precious gold.

So here we are... TA-DA! The voices behind this website and just a couple of the hands and hearts of Abide. We are beyond excited about what the Lord is doing in and through Abide. We have been especially fortunate to witness firsthand the start up of The Dwelling Place and to watch as it evolved into something more than we had ever hoped for the surrounding community. We can give all glory to God as we look back on this adventure so far. We were the two least qualified candidates and yet somehow we have managed to remain here and to become a part of something incredible. God continues to blow us away with His faithfulness.
